Pat,

A couple of years ago, a good friend of mine suffered a heart attack while
we (a group from a flying club in Southern Calif.) were on an annual fishing
trip near Yellowstone. This was a flying trip and he was one of the pilots.
(Interestingly, he merely felt kinda sick to his stomach for the entire week
of the trip).

When we returned(!) to So Cal, I learned the next day that he had undergone
a multiple by-pass that morning. I talked to him later in the week and he
told me he was determined to regain his OK to fly from the Feds if at all
possible.

Long story short, my friend not only got his license back in the ensuing
year, he flew (as PIC) on our next fishing trip the following year!

Not being a medico, I can't say whether my friend's case is unique - I do
know he really had to jump thru some hoops to regain his medical - but he
did it.

If you're interested, contact me off line at   dfs155@adelphia.net   and
I'll contact him to see if he's willing to converse directly with you
regarding the process.
