I had no problem getting a quote from either SkySmith (as recent as
yesterday afternoon - number has been posted many times), or the EAA
Insurance (Falcon/AIG).
I probably over estimated hull value, but with 500hrs, IR, and 100hrs in a
Mooney, I looked at an FG with 170K hull (too high I know, but I was looking
at difference between RG, FG, etc and forgot to correct it) and an RG and an
RV7 .
I'll give you all the numbers that I got. BTW, rates just went up May 1st.
RG Hull 230K - 5725
FG Hull 170K - 3700 (for kicks and to see what the real diff was between the
RG and FG, I did an FG at hull of 230K - 4760 or 1000 diff due to retracts
and 300HP)
RV7 Hull 110K - 2350 (for kicks and to see what the diff between an RV and
the FG would be, I did an RV7 at 170K - 3241 or 400 difference due to more
RV's flying)
While I was at SNF, I saw similar numbers, maybe a little less, but that was
before the rate change.
BTW, Avemco won't insure a glass airplane anymore, they will do liability
only, but not HULL I think. I also tried them at SNF and they wouldn't
quote, didn't matter what my time/ratings were.
