Walter,
I'm having a hard time imagining what that issue might be.  Short of missing cooling fins, totally malformed inlets and outlets, accidentally low head volume, very strange heat transfer in the metallurgy, what could it be?
The only thing I could come up with is that the cylinder is either not round or not true.

Posted for Walter Atkinson <walter@advancedpilot.com>:

I doubt Dennis is doing anything wrong.  We have identified a consistent
casting issue with the ECI cylinders that results in them running hot.  It is
not the cylinder coating or wall type.  It is possible that the hot running is
glazing it and not allowing it to break in.  I could be mistaken on the cause
of his inability to get them broken in, but we are confident that we
understand why they run hot.

   2.  Why would there be temperature issues with a new cylinder and not
 the
ones overhauled the first time?  I would think the coating process would be
 the same.
   3.  From the above information, what does Dennis appear to be doing
 wrong?
