These four rules would keep you out of a lot of trouble. I know that the third one works well substituting weather, pilot, maintenance etc for "plane". We could get rid of a lot of the "joe bag of donuts" if they would ask this question about someone who comes for a BFR, IPC, etc. I know I have, and ask some pretty peeved pilots to come back for more training. The fact that the are peeved is just further confirmation of my decision.

Thanks Brent.
Perhaps the 4 rules could be a beginning to the "Statement Higher
Standards" that we could adopt to collectively eliminate future losses.

Rule #1) All anomalous events REQUIRE investigation.
Rule #2) Uttering the phrase "Whatever that was, I am sure it is not a
problem" is NOT a repair.
Rule #3) Before a flight, ask yourself if you would let your wife /
child / parent fly that plane without you on board.
Rule #4) The urge to ask for a second opinion is confirmation that there
is an actual problem. See rule #1.
