I think we would all agree that our IQ goes to zero when we get under the stress of an emergency situation.  The military learned decades ago that rigorous training is the best way to insure performance from human beings when they're under stress.
 
Exactly my thoughts.    I think a lot of training doesn't sufficiently address the IQ == 0.

We all know how to make an emergency landing.  We wouldn't have our ticket if we didn't know.  But knowing and being able to perform under extreme stress is what recurrent training does for us.
