The folks at AIG got a bit confused and started to write policies stating that the Lancair factory must make periodic evaluations during the build process at the builder's home, and that the builder must participate in the builder's course at the factory. Scott Smith at Skysmith has gotten involved and thanks to Emily et al at Lancair may have straightened out the mess.  Seems that underwriters are prone to go off the deep end with little if any investigation.  Imagine the additional cost to fly a Lancair rep to each builder several times each year to check out the work - that would kill the market in no time!
