The V-8 - aircraft engine concepts always encounter (too late) a lot of reality that is never dealt with realistically on the front end.
I have a design for a new generation (not a V-8 configuration) of aircraft piston engines,  that pretty much resolves all of these issues.  I just don't have a few million bucks to get it built, tested, and approved.

Thanks for the interesting summary of the issues V8s have to overcome, if ever.  Hope does indeed spring eternal.  This subject has been beaten to death on every aircraft builder's mailist out there, I was hoping there might have been some kind of recent miracle, as I have been out of the scene for a while.  Can you say anymore about your new generation aircraft engine? Would it run on unleaded premium automotive gas?
