Hope springs eternal on this issue.
People have been trying to build a V-8 aircraft engine for general aviation ever since the RR Merlin.
Toyota got one in the air not long ago. RAMM test flew it and Toyota, after $50M of R&D scrapped it half way through....as if it never happened.
Our best bet is a lower output turbine. Continental tried that, even presented it an NBAA one year, and $50M and a year later pretended it never existed...
With the kit market growing and Americans never ending thirst for more power (regardless of the actual return on dollars) will I'm sure one day lead to......yep, hope springs eternal.
