Amen to this, Tom. Just ask anyone who produces helicopters for their comments. The gearboxes they have are fairly reliable now, but they have made this progress over many years and huge expenditures of money - mostly by the government & the big helo manufacturers.

This is certainly not a scientific or engineering observation, but it based on articles an accident reports I've read over the last several years it seems like the PSRU is usually the weak link when using an engine that
develops the horsepower you'd like at high RPMs.
