To me the most interesting part of that V8 engine project wasn't the engine,
but the fact the aircraft (LS1 or something like that) is being designed
AROUND the engine.  That seems like a rather novel approach.  Most of the
time it seems the kit builders are trying to shoe-horn a V8 into a space
designed for a flat 6, and not designed for radiators.

I'm intrigued.

And it will be interesting to see what happens with Jeff Liegner - I believe
he's got a "direct" drive 600 ci (or larger?) V8 on his Lancair 4.

-- If you want to do this,  you really need an inverted V-8,  with 600 to
800 c.i.,
-- operating at 2700 RPM without a gear box, direct drive.  With the CAM
profiles
-- tweaked to cause the torque curve to peak around 2400 to 2500 RPM. Even
then,
-- the cooling (liquid) creates lots of problems the way it is traditionally
done.
