I got to know Darryl during one of the Lancair Labor Day fly-ins, the one that happened the year before he first raced. I helped him with getting the log data out of his JPI engine instrument (if memory serves). Anyway, during our conversation I asked him how much MP he intended to pull out of that engine, thinking he had some MAP redline in mind. His 3-word answer bespeaks his attitude about racing... he said "...enough to win". I suspect your "very good information" is probably accurate.
