Rick's Legacy is fast, but, I think people are forgetting that in 2003 Darry was using "borrowed" engine parts from the company Legacy demonstrator during that race. That was not the normal engine he races with.

 

The closeness of the finish should not be construed to mean that Rick's Legacy is anywhere near as fast as Darryl's Legacy. I have it on very good information that  Darryl was only going as fast as necessary to stay ahead of Rick. Darrl didn't want to push the "borrowed" engine parts any harder than was necessary.
