Pat, and others,

In regard to primers, here's what we've done to prep = several=20 Lancairs at the suggestion of the person who was going to paint=20 them:

Sand bare surfaces and wipe with = solvent
Apply PPG K38 high build primer surfacer with a 4" = paint=20 roller
Sand with 80 grit dry, using a board
Repeat as necessary to desired smoothness (any = really bad=20 areas will show up and can
     levelled with = micro)
Repeat until satisfied with quality of = surfaces
Apply PPG K36 primer, reduced, with a spray = gun
