We all sometimes are over sensitized to fear of destroying our engines from
various demons … certainly I am. But I would like everyone to examine an
article written by Kas Thomas regarding “shock cooling” so we all are
working from knowledge rather than wives tales on operationing our expensive
lawn darts.

I find them very useful for a couple of reasons.
1) Expedited descents without pulling off excessive power that will shock
cool the engine. If you fly around controlled airspace, this will happen
quite frequently. Or what about unexpected turbulence when your in the
yellow arc?
