Jeff,
I have no consolation for your mag problems. Worse yet, I am sure GE
bought Unison (Slick) for its jet engine igniter technology and not to make the
piston engine ignition technology better. Heck, 250 hours ain't bad for
mags that should be "checked" every 500 hours. Mags and Plugs, Unison's
consumables, keeps their cash flow up.
Have you considered an altitude proof (Hah!) electronic ignition, one
with no points, no arcing, no pressurization consequences, no moisture
issues, etc? Huh? Huh? Spark advance is optional.
Think of this as the meandering thoughts of a cabin-fever sufferer --- Or,
maybe I am just CO-impaired.
