Its always fun to play with items that are in the top 1% of their
field... While all top 1% items are hard to obtain (some, like the
legacy must be built :-) they all bring an enjoyment that is unmatched.
Flashlights (torches for the Europeans out there) normally don't demand
a great deal of attention, but there is a special top 1% version that has

I meet Howard of HDS at Oshkosh a bunch of years ago. It was a pleasure
to talk with him about his the $350 cpu controlled multi LED
flashlight. His new version is cheaper, brighter, smaller and
still miles ahead of anything else out there. Howard is the only one
who changes the current and pulse width to maintain a constant tint of
the LED even at very dim settings. His code will detect the discharge
curve of the cell and predict if you have a rechargeable battery
installed and won't discharge below where it will never recharge. The
light will automatically dim if it gets too hot. I mean how many
flashlights do you know that have thousands of lines of code!!! its just
too cool...
