Chris,
Good pictures you posted of the Placerville gathering. Thanks.
For all those that couldn't make it there, except for about 30 minutes
during lunch, the weather was severe clear. The trip from and back to
Oregon was great.
I counted 26 Lancairs. (but maybe I counted mine more than
once) I think every model of Lancair was there: 235, 320, 360, Legacy, ES,
IVP, Turbine. Even an under construction Lancair was there.
Food was super; there EAA hanger is great. And cheap fuel too.
So I bought extra.
Steve and Claudette Colwell went "above and beyond" to make this gathering
a real success.
It was so well organized I thought I was at an EAA regional Fly-in.
It was complete with an over-the-radio greeting and a big "follow-me" sign on
the back of Steve's bright red truck when I taxied up.
For those that stayed over night, we did a fly out to nearby
Auburn airport for an on-the-airport outdoor patio breakfast Sunday
morning. It was short sleeve weather there.
Now, if we can keep the momentum up by going to the EAA
Golden West Fly-in at Marysville in June, we might get our own Lancair parking
row. Don Barnes paint and interior and Scott Alairs interior should be
complete by then, so that will be 2 more Legacys.
