Mike - 12" is the amount of distance we use as rule of thumb for maximum
allowable depth in 320 / 360s with header tanks, and have never had a
problem.  The actual distance is usually a little  more than 12".
You will have a little less depth behind the canopy hinges where they swing
through their arc.
