Bill and Sue,
I don't know which aircraft you are building, but if it is a IV, please be
advised that there is a new version of the inboard flap bellcranks. This
change is a correction to the previous design which had the incorrect ratio
between the inboard and outboard flap bellcranks. Makes for much smoother
operation throughout the entire range of motion.

Subject: [LML] IV Flap track mounting brackets
Hello IV builders,
Sue and I are having a bit of trouble with our flap tracks. Seems that the
kit came with 3/16 holes in the aluminum track and larger than 1/4 inch
holes in the fiberglass track mounting brackets attached to the aft spar.
The difficulty there is that are NO 2 holes (let alone all three) that align
in any of the 4 brackets. It looks like the aluminum tracks were drilled
first and then they guessed at where to go through the glass bracket. When
the holes didn't line up, they just made them bigger until the bolts would
go through. If I install AN3 bolts, I can move the aft end of the track
more than half an inch!!!
My thoughts are to ask for new undirlled tracks, flox up the existing holes
in the brackets and through drill new holes in both. This would, of course,
require complete realignment of the flap tracks but the factory alignment
was such that the flaps would move only with significant pressure and lots
of binding anyway.
I really love these "fast build" features. Only takes 3 or 4 times as long
as doing it yourself from scratch.
Any ideas?
