At the risk of dissection, in
a previous post I stated:
"You cannot fly an airplane with a stall
speed greater than its
maneuvering speed Va."
I implied that if the airplane were flown in a condition where the
stall speed that exceeded the design maneuvering speed the wing spars
would fail. As has been pointed out, this is not the case. I should
have said:
"If you fly an
airplane in a condition where the stall speed is greater than its
maneuvering speed Va you will likely be exceeding the allowable
loading."
For more on the topic see FAR 23.335 and 23.337.
My bad. Sorry for the confusion.

Brent Regan
