Salutti tutti,
continuing where I left off 2 nights
ago:
Lets just go back and have a look through Brent R's
posting about a hypothetical 28,500lb LIV. We've already established that it
won't fly at that weight, the wings have long since departed at an airload
somewhat less than 18,500lbs. As regards the "stall speed would equal Va
(172knots) at that weight" (28,500lbs) That's not the case either. 28,500/2,900
= load factor of 9.82. Square root = 3.134, x original clean stall speed lets
say 80 knots, = 251 knots. Then Brent continues with the mythical 200%
(8.8G) ultimate load factor, which doesn't exist and never has!
Three bloopers in one posting. If I could receive a
Kelly Johnson inflation adjusted quarter for each blooper I could give up my day
job. Thanks Brent, I'll take Western Union....
Then a few days ago Lynn Farnsworth popped up with
"Some of the engineering has already been done. The IV at 3,550lbs is rated at
+4.4 and -2.2 Gs...." Oh ?? Another blooper if I ever heard
one. Where's the data?? Show the engineering
details! Please send another Kelly Johnson inflation adjusted
quarter please.
My apologies to the persons named, it's not the
purpose of my posting to embarrass anyone, rather to show the falacious comments
that keep recurring here on LML, some of which by virtue of being continually
repeated come to to be accepted as 'facts' The mythical 200% Ultimate Load
Factor is one myth that just doesn't seem to want to die. Statements are made
"some of the engineering has been done. The LIV at 3,550lbs etc etc" is a
meaningless statement without the engineering evidence to back the statement.
The sad part about such postings, when repeated in one form or,
they another come to be accepted as 'truths' by persons who don't know
better and even by those who should know better. Please Please Please when
posting back your statements with evidence... or expect to keep paying me or
others with Kelly Johnson inflation adjusted quarters....if you don't I'll
make a very good living thank you very much.
ciao
Roberto d'Italia.

Thanks Brent....
