I would like to thank all of you who responded to my post about my gear
hydraulics problem.  This experience confirms what I have known all along.
That Lancair builders and flyers are the best people in the world.

I have isolated the problem to the right main retract cylinder. It is
leaking from low side to high side but not the other way.  Capping off the
ports to the dump valve had no effect.  Now I need to know how to get this
cylinder repaired or replaced.  Call to Lancair has yielded no results so
far.  Is there a repair kit or replacement seals available?  I find nothing
in the Lancair catalog on repair kit or replacement cylinder.

[The new Wolstenholme cylinders are completely rebuildable, and I would
imagine that the old ones should be as well.  Since you know that the right
main cylinder needs work, why don't you just open it up and see what needs
replacing?  They are typically sealed with either viton or Buna-n o-rings,
and those components should be readily available from any decent hydraulic
shop.  I have a Caterpillar tractor place not far from me and they've
proven to be a great resource for steel AN fittings, hydraulic thread
sealant, and other related 'stuff'.  See if you can find one nearby, they
ought to have the replacement parts available right over the counter... even
for cylinders that aren't theirs.  I hope this helps.   <Marv>     ]
