I usually at least scan all messages, but I didn't happen to see what
triggered Jim Solensky's last response. I can pretty well guess, though.
Apparently, he must have stated a problem with Lancair or their parts,
engineering or workmanship...something. Then, another builder came along and
"took the moral high ground" and implicitly put his comments down.
"Taking the moral high ground" is something you warn of on your homepage
and for good reason. This is what can easily result. Any of us builders
should be able to voice opinions, complaints, praise, etc. My approach is to
let someone say whatever they want. If I don't agree or feel offended, etc.
just let it pass.
I myself have faulted Lancair for some of their actions. I've told them
that I could understand their motivation in denying some parts or design
problems; however, just admit them and tell us of any corrective action or
necessary parts that we builders would understand and "pick up the tab" in
defense of the company. But, put yourself in their place, with liability and
short tempers out there, you can appreciate their positions. I do want to
say one thing: I have no end of thanks to Lance for his creativeness and
initiative in making it possible for us to build this beautiful, sleek and
very fast magic carpet.
