I put an 18V MOV across the flap motor leads. The normally closed contact of each relay is connected to "ground" (-12V) so that with neither relay energized, both sides of the flap-motor are grounded and the motor is self-braking. The normally open contact of each relay is connected to +12 through a common fuse or CB - as I recall I used a 7.5A fuse. The coil of one relay is connected to the flap-up switch, and the other is connected to the flap-down switch. (Ususlly these are the same switch, but on my L-235 I wired them to two separate switches on the MAC joystick.) The Bosch relays I used have the Fast-On terminals. Sorry, I am unable to provide the part number right now since the plane and I are separated by 500 miles. [Reprinted from your post of 9/20/98: >>> I bought myself some Bosch "Mini-Giant" automotive relays which were rated for this kind of service. I used part no. 0 332 204 125 SPDT. The NO contact is rated at 24A inductive, and the NC is rated at 16A inductive. These contacts are rated at 100,000 cycles switching the rated inductive load. They have Fast-On terminals, and a single hole mounting bracket. <<< ] >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LML homepage: http://www.olsusa.com/Users/Mkaye/maillist.html
