In the flare, landing lights many times shine off into space.
Some STC'd planes I know of have two landing lights.  One shines ahead and the other is aimed to help more in the flare.
Maybe you could add on another lamp on the left gear leg aimed low.
Mark, Matt,

Exactly!  I have the per-plans landing light in the cowling and saw that it lights up the runway just fine in the approach but everything went dark in the flare.  So, I added the 100 watt projection lamp to the left leg  and, Voila!  I can see the runway below and to the left.  Another plus is that it lights up the bottom of the plane whilst in the pattern.

Oh yeah, the switch power goes thru the "landing gear down and locked" relay - wouldn't want to tuck a "burning" halogen light up into the wheel well cause I forgot to turn it off on wheels-up.

Here's how it looked with landing and taxi light on last winter (It's hard to take a picture and land, too).  You can see some illumination of the hangar in the distance and how bright the near taxiway is.  Note the clear canopy see-thru area fwd and above the panel and some of the reflections on the side of the canopy.  NP! (No Problem)

Here's what it looks like with the landing light on the door and the leg light brightening the tarmac.
