I find the problem with instrument lighting and the canopy to be biggest in the flare. Or as is more often the case, when I SHOULD have flared. Light reflections up into the canopy really don't bother me much - there isn't much UP that I care about. It's a problem for me when landing because I can't see the runway when looking out the lower left part of the canopy (looking just in front of the wing), and your extension doesn't seem to address that. I've gotten to the point I hate flying at night because I dread the landing. I usually smack it down too hard because I haven't been able to see how close I really am to the runway and flare to late.
