Hello Gerard,

Yes, it's quite possible. I carry a small foam block that I wedge between the canopy top and the rollover part of the fuselage. It keeps the canopy open about  1 1/2 inches. With the enging running this draws quite a bit of air into the cockpit and makes it bearable even on the hottest days. If, however,  you attempt to taxi with the canopy fully open it obstructs your forward vision.
