The advice I got for removing some of the friction on the cables is to cut off (carefully) the nicopress sleeves, remove the cable, clean the cable, clean the tubing, lubricate the cable. I marked the cable before I removed the nicopress and it was pretty simple to install new nicopress sleeves and have have the cables still adjusted correctly.
