There are two ways = to check bonds. (1.) The cheapest is the coin tap test. Take a quarter = and drop it through your fingers from a height of about 1/4 to 3/8 inch = above the skin. Coin to land on it's edge (not flat). You should be able = to "tap" 30 or so times per minute. Listen carefully to the sound = produced. The sound should be a crisp ping. If the sound is dull, the = bond is not good and has voids. This takes a little practice but can be = very effective. You obviously need to know where there should be a bond. (2.) There is a portable ultrasonic bond tester available. Not sure of = the cost.
