Gerard, I helped a friend install one on his RV-8 as his primary (only) attitude indicator. He flew the airplane for a year or so without an attitude indicator--VFR only). The Dynon unit has performed extremely well over the past year. He included the internal battery but elected not to install the remote magnetic heading sensor, and sees up to 4 degrees of heading error on some headings--which he considers acceptable. He did not install the pitot tube with AoA, but intends a refit now that this option is available. I liked it enough to add it -- as a secondary system--to my IV-P. I found the internal battery and associated ability to operate independently of aircraft power a compelling attribute. I'd be particularly interested in how this unit stands up to internal aircraft electrical/radio noise, and even more about its ability to operate after a lightning strike if anyone has such experience.
