Fliers,

Do your Matco wheels get loose on the axles and wobble?

Do you regularly have to tighten the axle nut?

Have you had to replace the worn spacers and axle nuts?

Is this happening because the bearing cases spin against the axle nuts and the spacers?

After 18 months of testing I have solved those problems for myself and I'm ready to share.

About a year and a half ago I found it necessary to replace my axle nuts because the ridge had completely worn out on the old ones - I also learned that there were axle washers available, so I got six.  I riveted two together to use as the inside spacer and one on the axle nut.  These washers actually press against the rubber seals on the bearings so that the bearing turn, not the bearing cases.  I have not had to tighten the axle nut during the last 18 months, thus no wobble.

Washers and nuts after 18 months:

As a bonus, I have included a picture of the brake-side wheel half where I have staked the bolts so that wheel assemble is simplified.
