Ron Kraus,
You asked about the small tail elevator trim tab size. I'll attach a couple
of pictures of my pitch trim tab installation and say to you, don't do it
this way. I originally had the old spring tension system and retro-fitted
this after about 200 hours.
1. Put it on the left elevator and NOT on the right one. I believe my tab
is blanked out somewhat by the vertical surface at approach speeds due to
the "P" factor swirl of the slipstream.
2. Make the length of the tab at least half again as long. Mine is about
six inches. You could also try to increase the span of the tab somehow to
obtain more trim authority.
I buried the MAC servo in the elevator which, of course, required that the
elevator be re-balanced. I cut open the balance arms and found room for
some more lead. The pitch trim rocker switch is mounted on the center
console right under the throttle and just behind the roll trim switch.
At approach speeds and even with less than full flaps I have to hold a small
amount of back pressure on the stick with full nose up trim, more back
pressure with full flaps. I fly an instrument approach with flaps up and
about 110 KIAS, which is very comfortable and trimmed up. Trim in all other
flight conditions is very nice.
I hope this is useful to you.

I'm building an early 320 Fastbuild - small tail.
Questions about the Elevator and Horizontal Stab.
1 - Plan to use an elevator trim tab and small RAC servo. What dimensions
should I make the trim tab? I know there are easier ways, but I am
intrigued by the TruTrack auto pitch trim.
