I will be traveling in my Lancair IV on business next week from
  Diamondhead Mississippi to Chicago.  My meetings will be in the
  Schaumburg Illinois area.  Any suggestions for a "friendly" airport
  recommendation and/or other pertinent suggestions?

I have not been into this airport for a few years (before it was upgraded) as I fly out of KARR, some miles to the south.  There are no published instrument procedures for 06C and you may want to check into some of the surrounding airports listed at the site above.
