In looking at the various issues that have been
discussed, one that I don't recall seeing is wingtip tanks. Various airplanes
have used them to good advantage, both in terms of range, load, and
aerodynamics. The Beech F33 and Cessna 310 come to mind.
Has any serious exploration of this idea made it to
the L-IV discussion? If so, what have been the conclusions?
