On my EPI 800 the wires are cut to length.  When I had to replace one egt
probe, I cut the wire to length in the engine compartment and spliced it
with the Faston connectors supplied by vision.  As far as I can tell the
temperatures are all consistent and reasonable.

As for wood prop torque.  Clark Lydick of Performance Propellers recommends
30-35 ft-lb for 3/8" bolts and 35-40 ft-lb for 1/2" bolts.  Should be
retorqued after each flight until torque level stabilizes.  Then check
routinely every 20 hrs.   After a couple of flights I found the torque
stabilized and went to a 50 hr check interval.

I recently replaced my Felix 3-blade wood prop (61x81) with a MT electric
constant speed prop.  I'm ready to part with the wood prop, spinner,
extension, and bolts, if anyone interested.
