Hello Listers: I am building a Lancair IV and just tried to install a set of E.I. fuel sensor probes. As you know they are long tubes that slip into the wing and are secured into the outboard rib--the outer end of the probe has about 1 inch of thread. Well as I tightened the probe into the fitting in the outboard rib, it seemed to bottom and would not continue to turn with about 1/4 inch of thread remaining. I had expected it to screw in completely and seat against the rib fitting. Is it normal for thread to be sticking out from the rib fitting? Also the plans do not call for a gasket, O-ring or check nut to be slipped on the probe before install to seat against the fitting, just some anti-sieze. Is this enough to keep fuel from seeping out? thanks for your help, paul
