I think the GDL 49 costs about 5 times the price of the WxWorx receiver ($3,495 vs. $695). Other problem with the Garmin is the time delay for the Nexrad information, that it is a request system, and that requesting Nexrad info in one location will wipe out the Nexrad data in any area you had previously requested- ie looping is more difficult and slower. Garmin is supposedly working on the GDL 69, which is supposed to a be dramatic improvement over the GDL 49.
