Randy,
I am usind dual 55 amp ND alternators.  I removed the internal regulators.  This is a simple 30 minute operation that anyone should be able to accomplish, given that they can build an airplane.  Send me your email address and I will send you a narrative on how to do the conversion.  It removes the entire internal regulator and heat sink and uses an external Ford type regulator.
