I built the oil/air separator using aluminum irrigation pipe.  The bottom air outlet tube extends upward inside to near the top.  There are several holes drilled on the backside of the inner tube near the top, opposite to the front inlet tube.  The top of the inner tube is closed and includes a threaded stud for the top.  The top has a fly-cut recess on the underside for a seal.  There is an aviation grade wing nut with safety wire to hold the top in place.

Inside is a roll of wire mesh.  There is a 1/8 inch pipe fitting for the drain on the bottom of the separator.  A mounting bracket was welded to the backside.

And of course, to keep our Lancair image intact, the exterior was polished.

Cost: much less than $35. The aluminum materials were all scrap pieces in the shop (my labor is free since I enjoy the challenge).
