Ray,
Were you able to determine what caused of your Matco brakes to fail?  

Also, for all those current Matco users out there.  I know it has been
mentioned before, but Matco came out with a new disk material 2 or 3
years ago (stamped "D5") that greatly improves performance.  Until
switching, I also had trouble just doing a run-up.  Now I can hold the
plane under full power .  The outback gear is at a disadvantage here
because of the larger wheel diameter.
