Back in 1992 my LIV kit came with McCreary tires.
They are the ones with the rounded surface profile. I've since purchased
GoodYear Flight Special's which are a more substantial tire, especially in the
sidewall area, They have a flat surface profile. I'm concerned
that the more rugged GoodYear tire will have greater wear on the outboard edges
during the initial touchdown when the full weight of the plane is not
yet on the landing gear and the tires are running mostly on the outboard
edge. Some flyers are saying that the rounded McCreary tires have less
wear due to their rounded shape. Can you LIV drivers give your tire
wear experience based on using these two types of tires? I'm
assuming that the axle geometry has been properly aligned so that
factor has been eliminated.
