Bob:

I did talk to Paul T.  about his notching the trundle pins.  He did use the
drill/round file method and he speculated that he removed about 1/10 inch to
get the braided line in. However, he hasnt flown his plane yet to see how
the mod works..

Also talked to the factory (Ross C).  He was not too encouraging about
Notching the trundle pins as they take the full landing load.  He speculated
that we might be alright but???
He also said that future trundle pins would be milled to have a center
recession.

Talked to Tim Ong and he is using  small aluminum lines in the gear legs on
one of the factory planes and anticipates a retrofit kit in the near future.

Finally, talked to my friends at Laurence Livermore Lab and they were not
happy about the Notching procedure.  Wanted to know how the trundle pins
were installed.  (Just found out that they are a friction fit, pressed in
place using locktite.) Their approach would be to remove the pins, then
taper a recession in the center of each pin using a lathe, then reinstall.

Not sure yet which method I will use.  Still cogitating.  Will let you know
whenever I commit.  Regards, Bill Hogarty
