I bought a quick-drain for my IV five or six years ago, and found the same problem that Rick mentions on his Legacy...I stuck a glob of some kinda' putty on the existing drain plug and went up for a pretty good wring-out...full power, no power, max climbs, dives, aileron rolls, etc, and the marks left by the gear retraction linkage were close enough to the drain to convince me that I'd rather spend a few more minutes in changing oil the old-fashioned way than live with the possibility of losing all my oil due to an interference problem, so I keep the quick-drain on the shelf where it's totally safe.
Don't forget, your engine moves around plenty in the course of complying with your requests...it moves fore and aft, left and right, AND with aging of the mounts, it settles down, reducing the clearance between it and anything attached to your airframe.
Think about it, then do it safely
