I think the answer to that will become abundantly clear the first time you try to dead-stick one of those puppies.

The F-105 POH made it look a lot easier. Just eject. It stated that you would probably not survive an engine out landing. I am surprised that the F-104 was better?
But for our LNC2's, Jack Web, for my bi-annual, had me over an airport at 1,000. We did a 360 at 120 mph and still had 200 ft to lose before landing, which was easy with gear prop and flaps. My Commanche took 1,000 feet to do a 180. The LNC2 is a much better, although faster, glider.
