One of my fellow members at the Thunderbird field EAA mentioned about really
dead-sticking a 104. He believes that it is the only case of one making it
to the ground without a turbine spinning in one piece.

He mentions his wingman asking him if he just went to 'burner and he said
no. This was parts being spit out the tailpipe. Then soon after engine stopped
and he glided in.

He made it sound easy, but I've seen a F-104 and can't imagine trying to land
one without any assistance from turbine, hydraulics or electrical systems.

Anybody heard about this?

Thanks,
