It would helpful to know what effect, if any, they would have on the high and low speed characteristics of any of the Lancairs." A neighbor of mine who has a flying 360 recently installed vortex generators on his wings. Here is his statement: I installed a vortex generator kit on my Lancair 360 in July 2003 supplied by NorthWest Aero in Bend Or. the kit was designed specifically for the Lancair 360 and installation was straight forward except for one small detail: the layout geometry was presented for an extended wing tip mod and my aircraft was built with the standard kit wing. This was not a problem once I figured out what was going on. The resulting flight characteristics were very positive: Reduced stall speed by a full 10 knots Much better roll control at low speed Use of 10 degree flap instead of 40 degree for landing with a more comfortable sink rate on approach No noticeable change in handling or air speed at the top end of the speed range. The final numbers after testing per FAR 91.319(b) are nothing short of amazing.
