John: You sold me a nose gear strut knowing that it would only fit one of the very early L-IV's. Not being too smart, I had no idea that Lancair ever made two different length nose gears for the L-IV. Evidently you did. I bought the strut in good faith assuming that it would fit my plane. It does not. When I told you it would not fit, you suggested that I ask Lancair to exchange it. Lancair refused. I asked to return the strut to you for a refund and you tell me you have no use for the strut and you have already spent the money I sent you.

I have been involved in the Lancair builders community for over 10 years and, until now, everyone I have met has shared a certain common bond to help and assist other builders. This is my first experience with someone obviously looking to take advantage of another builder. It certainly has been quite a disappointment. . Bill Hogarty

I’m really sorry about this. I wish I could be of more help, but Rob Lueck was careful to tell you that there were two different sizes of nose gears for the LIV and told you that ours was a 16 ¼ “ one and you said that it would fit and that we should send it to you. I saw the email that he sent to you that was very clear. If I hadn’t already spent the money on a GPS for my airplane it might be different, but I’ve spent the money and don’t have use for the nose gear. Perhaps you can get the manufacturer to retrofit it with a longer barrel.

The nose gear you sent me wont fit and, as you suggested, I contacted the factory about exchanging for a newer model but they are not interested.
