I believe that I saw that in some cases, nut-plates were being installed
with construction adhesive on Lancair aircraft as opposed to rivets. Can
anyone give me any thoughts on this?

[The trick here, Giff, is to pre-install the nutplate on a 4- to 6-BID "card", using normal nutplate installation practices.  After the nutplate is mounted to the FRP card you bond the card/nutplate with Hysol.  It doesn't need to be much larger than the nutplate itself, give yourself about an 1/8" - 3/16" border around.  Secure the card with a short screw into the nutplate, be sure to grease the screw before assembly, JIC you get any Hysol on it during the bonding process.  HTH.....
