The general wisdom is that the Jim = Weir-type foil antennas aren't supposed to work inside a carbon skin, = although one builder says they do. I think I'll go for putting a foil = antenna inside the rear part of the center console. Might be a problem = if the plane were to land upside down, but otherwise it would be = transmitting through e-glass and plexi. Incidentally, the antennas sold by Advanced Aircraft, or whatever = they call themselves, look like fancy ($149) versions of Jim Weir's foil = antennas, which cost maybe fifty cents and work very well in the right = circumstances.
