The original fiberglass panel is pretty flimsy. Mine has deformed over the years due to the weight of the attitude and directional gyros. Also there is a lot of vibration. My winter project is going to be installing an aluminum insert as Kirk suggests. I'm going to cut out the main portion of the pilot's panel, leaving a flange around the edge to mount the aluminum insert.
